Want to see a competitive crew? There is none of the likes of the Swat Krue Marines. The Gunslingers had a first glimpse of SK when they were involved with the SBG BTB Invitational Tournament. While they were on the other half of the bracket from TTL, we could tell they were making waves from their appearance in the semi-finals. Since the tournament has been over, they have wanted a chance to fight against us. Their wish is our command and we gladly let this challenge take center stage.

Tied The Leader sent out some fun loving ‘slinger with the names of TTL Tortacular, TTL Fate, TTL L Askan, TTL Balzy, ChubbyHands and TTL Milk. The Swat Krue brought out big hitters along the lines of SK DrUnKeN, DaPeRfEcTGaMeR, SK Doobie, SK Mystic Young, SK Yaddy and DaStOnEdGaMeR. The two groups decided on game-types and proceeded to meet on the Halo 3 battlefield.

Game 1: One-Flag CTF on Last Resort

While SK got into TTL’s base and grabbed the flag from it’s home numerous times, TTL only needed two grabs to bring the flag home for two scores. Being blue, TTL had a gut wrenching time to defend the lead, but they held on while killing off the competition. TTL wins 2 – 1…

Game 2: Two-Flag CTF on Avalanche

Just the opposite of game one. While TTL could get into the SK base to rack up 10 flag grabs, they were unable to whether the storm back home. SK took a lead and out defended the ‘slingers. SK wins 1 – 0…

Game 3: Slayerball on Isolation

This is such a crazy game-type. Points for kills, unlimited points, unexplained points, as well as points for time that you hold the time as usual for Oddball. While SK had out assited TTL, the extra 20 kills that TTL recieved boosted them up a little more. TTL wins 638 – 608…

Game 4: Neutral Bomb on Standoff

TTL loves to dominate any area that a warthog can fit in. That is the story to this game other than the fact that they could only keep the bomb armed for one score. TTL wins 1 – 0…

Game 5: Slayer on Valhalla

A typical slayer match. Kill each other until the game ends. What more can one say? TTL wins 91 – 70…

Overall TTL takes the match home with a 4 – 1 rating. A great thanks goes out to all of the participants and especially to the members of the Swat Krue Marines. The time was made, the fight was planned and the Games were Good! We can’t wait to see you again Swat Krue.

If anyone is interested in exploring the Swat Krue Marines in more depth, please check out their website. They are a fine bunch of people. Good Game!

Yea they make podcast for the Halo nation, but they also have Halo players! The recreational crew at Podtacular came to TTL to show us how to have some Sunday fun and get a new fight in the books with some old friends.

Written by Bunny.

Game 1 Multi-Flag CTF on Valhalla:

Vehicle control seemed to be the key for this game. Podtacular was shoved back into their base while TTL controlled the middle of the map. Podtacular was making strides, but end up returning the flag often than they were grabbing one. TTL wins 3 -0…

Game 2 Lowball on Guardian to 250:

To 250? That’s right, to 250. But the game didn’t make it there. It was a long, hard battle for center and gold lift. After 20 mins of brawling and biting, TTL squeezes by the earpiece wearers. TTL wins 52 – 41…

Game 3 King of the Hill on Standoff:

Bullets? What bullets? I’m keepin’ my head down and accumulating time is all. Well that’s how it worked out for Podtacular for a good portion of the game that is. After going down 50 points, TTL decided to slow some things down a bit and regained some composure. TTL wins 250 – 172…

Game 4 Multi-flag CTF on The Pit:

The Pit is always a hard map to gauge. The fighting is almost always in the middle of the map for two flags that are no where near there. Both sides were highly contested and niether team made it a blow out. Both sides had their ups and downs during the engagement. Game Tied 2 – 2…

Game 5 Team Slayer on Construct:

This map is always a battle for who can control the lifts and who can control the lifts well. TTL grabbed the lifts early and tried to claw for dear life. But Podtacular’s use of the Flamethrower was excellent. Podtacular held the lifts and made the game. Podtacular wins 100 – 98…

Game 6: One-Bomb on Last Resort

I’m unsure if anyone really thought they were going to score on this gametype. To the surprise of the participants, both sides scored once. And that’s how it ended. Game tied 1 – 1…

Game 7: One-Flag CTF on High Ground

Once the flag gets outside the gate, all you can see is the silloutte of a man running with it. That’s how this gametype goes. Podtacular fought valiantly and crossed the threshold once. However, TTL came roaring in, and ran over it twice. TTL wins 2 – 1…

A seven game series makes for a long day of gaming and tired thumbs. Overall TTL takes the match, 4 – 1 – 2. Thank you to all the participants from Podtacular for such a good showing. Without your efforts, this would have been lack luster.

For anyone who has yet to see what Podtacular is all about, I suggest that you all GO THERE and check out what they have to offer. Good Games!

The road through The SBG Tournament was a tough haul. Some of the most dedicated clans in the Halo Nation had lined up to claim a cash prize – intended to support the operations of their respective states. Plans were hatched. Guns were drawn. Matches were set. In the end, Tied the Leader claimed the purse for the Foundation.

Round 1: TTL vs. Deaf Gamers Online

Its always great to meet great new people, and new communities. While it was different experience for us to set up the pregame lobby with them, these guys definitely can throw down in game. They defiantly caught us with our pants down on Neutral Assault on Sandtrap. The only reason we were able to tie the games is that our Gunslingers adapted and took a page out of the strategies we saw these guys using. TTL wins Round one with a score of 2-0-1.

Game 1: Valhalla Slayer
TTL Wins: 100-37

Game 2: Sandtrap One Bomb
Tie Game: 1-1

Game 3: Standoff Multi-Flag
TTL Wins: 3-0

Round 2: TTL vs. H3Wheelmen (Team #2)

This was yet another great social experience from the tournament. I actually had to interject and start the 3rd game after we had broken out into a conversation for 15-20 minutes between games. The wheelmen are all stand up guys, and it was great gaming with them. TTL wins this round 3-0.

Game 1: Rat’s Nest Multi-Flag
TTL Wins: 3-0

Game 2: Last Resort Slayer
TTL Wins: 100-32

Game 3: Avalanche Neutral Bomb
TTL Wins: 3-0

Round 3 (Semi-Finals): TTL vs. Outcast Reborn (OcR)

OcR is always a great group to play, these guys always bring their A game to the table. All these games were so close they could have gone either way. In game one, OcR took what we considered one of our best game types, Valhalla Multi-Flag. Then they came out with a sizeable lead in game 2 (Standoff Slayer). However, the Gunslingers put up a great second effort to come back and take the game. Game 3 was a virtual deadlock. Pushes were made, and both teams had a rock solid defense. The Gunslingers managed to get a plant in the OcR base, but we’re mopped up quickly… however, as OcR Envy watched the disarm bar tick down to almost nothing. Unfortunately for him, the bomb detonated giving TTL the lead and the eventual win. TTL wins the semi-finals with a score of 2-1.

Game One: Multi-Flag on Valhalla
OcR Wins 1-0

Game Two: Slayer on Standoff
TTL Wins 100-93

Game Three: Neutral Assault
TTL Wins 1-0

FINALS: TTL vs. Saved By Grace (SBG)

A showdown that has been brewing for quite some time, our two communities finally met in game for some good games. This was to be a best of 7 game series, already starting at 10:30pm EST… we were all in for a long night.

Game 1: Multi-Flag CTF on Valhalla

TTL came out strong in game one using map control, power weapons, vehicles and team shot to lock down the map. Despite having better position and more assets than the SBG crew, we still couldn’t close out the game. Both of TTL’s flag captures were slow grinds, moving the flag a few feet per touch from the SBG side back to home base. SBG’s strikers did a great job of getting their hands on TTL’s flag a lot and sent it through the cannon over and over. Every time we had to halt the advance and come back to deal with the home front. The gunslingers teamwork was top notch out slaying SBG 142 kills (110 assisted) to 90. TTL Los Jacklos stood out this game with 33 kills (+16) and 24 assists.

After 20 minutes… TTL Wins 2-0

Game 2: Rat’s Nest Team Slayer

SBG started this game out strong and put the Gunslingers in a deficit to begin the match. The chaos trailed out to all corners of the maps. Bodies were in every street and every room. SBG’s use of the warthogs racked them up some extra kills. However, TTL regained the lead mid-game and was able to pull out the victory. TTL Gilthanis lead the way for the gunslingers with 29 kills (+13) and 17 assists.

TTL wins 100-83

Game 3: Multi-Flag CTF on Avalanche

The Gunslingers were first out of the gate once again in this game of avalanche CTF. Using all the weapons, vehicles and power-ups on the map TTL was able to overwhelm the SBG defenders. The strikers kept switching it up and 3 different gunslingers (TTL Al Capown, Hom3ydntpalydat, and TTL Tortacular) were able to score captures. TTL Milk was laying down covering fire for the majority of the match and ended with 23 kills (+10) and 11 assists

TTL wins 3-0

Game 4: Team Slayer on Sandtrap

Shock and awe was the tone of this game. From start to finish SBG was in the driver’s seat. Every weapon, vehicle, and position were being used in SBG’s favor… at one time the Gunslingers were down by more than 50 kills. SesameSeeds and DOW MAGNUM had virtually identical stats with 20 kills and 9 deaths, leading SBG to victory.

Saved By Grace wins 100-63

Game 5: Neutral Bomb on Sandtrap

Much like our match against Deaf Gamers Online, this match was a learning experience. Both teams had one great defensive round and one great offensive round. CLERIC 187 SBG topped the charts this game with 21 kills (+9) and 7 assists. Once again we have tied the leader.

Tie Game 1-1

Game 6: Standoff Team Slayer

In the last game of the night, strategy was key. A close game from the start, SBG did a great job holding onto their lasers. Each team countered warthogs with whatever they could find. However with the score going back and forth the edge tipped to in TTL’s favor after a few separate warthog runs found some success. This game TTL Gilthanis was on top again scoring 26 kills (+8) as well as 25 assists.

TTL Wins 100-73

And with the resounding squish of a warthog splatter, the tournament had come to a close. We would like to thank SBG for hosting this tournament and the amazing competition found in it. More than the competition we found new friends from other communities, this was truly a gathering of great gamers. We here at TTL have a saying for occasions such as this… Good Game!

Game 1 Slayer BRs on The Pit to 100:

Slayer on the Pit is always a nice, standard matchup to get two teams rolling. This tense game kept both teams within a few kills of each other, the lead passed back and forth as each team attempted to hold their side of the map. Trips into enemy territory could result in a glorious triple kill or being teamshot to death in a second. But one final rocket nabbed ATF the lead and the win. AtF wins 100-92.Good game.

Our Side / Their Side

Game 2 Multi-Flag CTF on Standoff:

ATF employed one brutally effective strategy that won the game…they just kept coming. Every door was opened, every vehicle was employed, every man was on strike, and it did not let up. Unable to turn back the constant tide we were flooded with foes and they were flush in flags. AtF wins 3-0. Good game.

Endless Rushing

Game 3 One Bomb on High Ground:

While we couldn’t pull out a win, this time our defense was tighter and our lessons learned. Endless rushing by ATF did eventually land them the lone score, but our team shooting and tight defense kept them at bay for most of the game. Only in the last moments did they outslay our disarm attempts and score the game winning bomb. AtF wins 1-0. Good game.

No Gate For You

Game 4 One-Flag on Ghost Town:

Our only tie game came on a map and gametype known for ties. Defending Ghost Town is a brutal task…the flag is easily moved a few feet at a time to muscle it in for a score. Our defense did a fantastic job holding wave after wave of ATF attacks, stopping and returning flag after flag, often holding ATF off until the final seconds of each round. Our offense managed nice coordinated rushes to capture our flags in neat, quick order. The game was a tie, but also a good lesson in how to really make Ghost Town work. Tie Game 2-2. Good game.

Brute Force

Game 5 Team Slayer BRs on Avalanche to 100:

In our final slayer game TTL claimed every vehicle on the map with a loud “MINE!” and then proceeded to employ our own endless wave of attacks with turrets, plasma fire, and splatters. Our one decisive victory came thanks to a fleet of vehicles rolling together to cover each other’s backs and take down ATF one by one by one. ATF had a few good rebounds, rallying to take down some of our fleet. But with splaser control and vehicle domination TTL controlled the land and the sky. TTL wins 100-84. Good game.

Vehicle FTW

Do not underestimate these machinimakers. They may be movie stars playing soldiers, but when the props are exchanged for real guns then they’re just as deadly. Fortunately they’re also a bunch of really nice guys, so when the credits roll you’ll be smiling!

Always interesting conversation when Jericho is involved. It is always difficult to just pick a person to interview but I figured Jericho had some really, really interesting stories. Jericho wears many different hats!!

Enjoy the interview!!!
~TTL Venus~

Why did you pick “Fock” as your first gamertag?

I was a beta tester for XBL and wanted a gamertag that would be a bit tongue in cheek. I ended up choosing it from the writer Art Kumbalek:
His BLOG!
Art Kumbalek is a freelance writer up in Milwaukee and writes for the Sheppard Express, a free newspaper. He’s quite the character. He uses the word Fock in place of the more common term often heard spewing from Timmies on XBL.

How long have you been gaming?

Since pong.

What is the most satisfying thing about being an Overlord?

Our secret meetings in the Star Chamber. And the orgies.

Now for some gaming questions:

What is your favorite weapon and map? Why?

The stickier grenade. It’s very satisfying to hear it charge up like camera flash then go boom. My favorite map is Guardian as it has lots of stickiest and plays to my playing style – lots of places to attack from and escape to.

What is your most favorite “in game” memory since H3 has come out?

Logging on at 12:30 AM on launch day to find my friends list full of Gunslingers playing campaign. There had to be at least 40 on that night.

While in the pre-game lobby would you say that you spend more time in the kitchen or in front of your TV?

At my computer actually. Looking an PRON.

What is your favorite drink while gaming?

Coke.

Now let’s dig a little deeper…..we know that you are Actor….so with that being said, give us a little information on the following:

What was your first role?

I played three characters in Oliver! when I was 12. One of the orphans plus two speaking roles. Can’t remember them right off though.

What stars have you worked with?

Not a lot. The most prominent is Michael Gross, aka Mr. Keaton from Family Ties. Randal Duk Kim aka the Key Maker from the Matrix Reloaded (Randy also taught me Shakespearian Folio Technique, he is by far the most amazing actor I’ve worked with), Bill Norris who co-wrote Reanimator with Stuart Gordon, I had John Malchovich cut in front of me in line once at Steppenwolf, and a buddy of mine Nick Offerman is married to Megan Mullally (the crazy woman on Will and Grace). Nick has done a lot of work since moving out to LA which includes getting his lights punched out by Bruce Willis in Sin City. Another buddy of mine (Pat Healy) is standing on the brink of success out there – all of you should put his movie World of Sound on your netflix cue. And I spent my 40th birthday in the L&L (a dive bar in Chicago at Broadway and Clark) with Guy Van Swearingen and Michael Shannon – the creative team behind the original production of BUG which was made into a film last year directed by William Freidkin (director of The Exorcist). Shannon is one strange dude, but very cool and Guy is one of my favorite folk in Chicago.

What role will you NEVER forget?

Getting my thumb stolen in Action Movie the Play.

Parting words?
Copy that.

I had to post this picture with your interview because you are the sole reason why we all throw grenades from the start of Standoff! I hear your voice yelling “Throw Grenades!”

THE NEWCOMER
Crim is such a welcomed addtion to TTL as he has a great spirit, he is intelligent and just a pleasure to game with. He has mad skills and to be quiet honest…he is a kick bootie Defender of our Bases! You can rest assured that with him laying back to Guard our base…there will rarely ever be a Flag captured or a Bomb planted.

Crim is very respectful to other gamers and reps TTL with nothing but class. You wear your Gunbelt with great pride and it shows.

Now let’s get down to this interview. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did.

Enjoy
~TTL Venus~

How did you chose your gamer tag?

That’s easy, it’s actually just my last name which I’ve gone by among friends for a long time. My first name is Matthew and that was a popular name in the 80s, so in school a bunch of us Matts started going by last names.

How did you find TTL?

I ran into a group of Gunslingers in BTB matchmaking, and was equally impressed by their teamwork skills and game behavior. As the rest of my random team quit, leaving me to be slaughtered alone, I thought to myself “There has to be a better way to play this game, and these TTL guys seem to have figured it out.” I checked out the website, was entertained by the blog, and decided to hit up the forum. It was all good games from there on out.

Do you enjoy any other games other than Halo?

Oh yeah, I like a wide variety depending on my mood. I’ve favored FPS games since PC Doom, but I also enjoy RTS games like Command and Conquer and Starcraft. I just hooked up my old Super Nintendo in the guest room at my house, so I’ve been playing a bunch of sweet old platform games like Super Metriod and Megaman X. I actually have a old console archive of sorts, I’m only missing a few of the weirder ones. All of them are functional, because unlike the xbox of today those old cartridge machines were built like tanks!

Are you a bumper jumper, default or boxer guy?

Default all the way, I never even changed my sensitivity in any Halo game until recently. I can see the benefits of Bumper Jumper but I’ve already got an effective system down, why mess with something new?

Do you have a goal that you strive to achieve in Halo other than being kickazz Honor Guard?

Not specifically, I really just play to have fun. I stopped playing for rank a long time ago, I’m just in it for the action now. I do really like to see my teammates win, hopefully with my assistance, that’s my only general goal. I’m certainly not the best player out there, but I’m comfortable with my skill set in that I usually make a constructive difference in my team’s games. There is one other goal that I have – I try to provide a positive example for others on live, which is the spirit of TTL, so that the community as a whole will improve the treatment of it’s members.

What is your favorite memory so far while being in Tied the Leader?

Stealing the majority of Utopia’s kills over the course of several games…wait that’s just my favorite memory from last night! And it wasn’t stealing, it was just team shooting, honest!! Though it’s not from one specific instance, I love participating in our big team rushes. There’s something undeniably epic about a convoy speeding through a hail of bullets and explosions to deliver punishment to an enemy’s door. That coordination was apparent in the first game that led me to TTL, and I’m thrilled that I now get to participate instead of just being a victim!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On a more personal note…
What do you do for a living?
I’m a freelance photographer, currently specializing in youth sports pictures.
Do you attend school? If so, what are you majoring?
I’m not currently in school, though I’m seriously considering going back to finish my degree. I attended the VCU School of Art for 3 years, but I got very frustrated with the whole ‘art scene’ and dropped out to pursue photography and play in a band. I did get an Associates Degree of Social Sciences (whatever that means) recently.
Where do you see yourself in 2 years?
I’ll be here, in good old Richmond. I like it around these parts, so much that I bought a house last year in laid back neighborhood right outside the city. I’ll definitely be taking photograph too, though of what I can’t be sure.
What is your favorite ice cream?
Any of the cold kinds. I eat’em all.
Anything out of the ordinary that you would like your TTL family to know about you?
Hmmm. I’ve had classical music training and I play several musical instruments. I used to write Sci-fi short stories in elementary school. I go hiking and camping periodically in the Blue Ridge mountains. I’ve studied woodworking and furniture design and occasionally make things that I need. I love to read books and have many favorite authors. I remember almost everything that I read, books or otherwise. I’m a dog person, I have 2 that are my bestest buddies. I like to paint but I’m pretty terrible at it. I like getting tattoos. I hate running but love swimming. I don’t know which of those things are out of the ordinary, so I figured I’d just list
some stuff!!!
The Halo 3 Junkies once again threw the gauntlet down in Midworld seeking a rematch with TTL after falling 3-2 in a close series not too long ago. This challenge was as competitive as it comes, and both teams were ready to meet the best in combat.
Written By Gilthanis
Game 1 Multi-Bomb on Standoff:
Like many standoff games the battle was frantic to control the middle, within 40 secs both hogs were destroyed and the game became an infantry battle. Our team of gunslingers managed to gain control of top mid and corral the Junkies in their base. TTL Los Jacklos sat at the bottom gate with the bomb while a strike team infiltrated the base and opened it up. The game was 1-0 with a minute and a half gone by. Even though TTL held the middle of the map with a death grip a mongoose team of 2 junkies blew past everyone and started into the base with no defenders in sight. A command decision was made to concede the enemy point and we pressed the 6 on 4 advantage to score at the same time and keep the lead at 2-1. The gamble paid off because the gunslingers were still in control of mid and able to press a quick third cap ending the match in just under 5 minutes.
Game 2 Neutral Bomb on Narrows:
TTL Begins game 2 with a perfectly executed rush gaining control of the middle, the bomb, and the power weapons. However, even with all those advantages it takes 2 minutes into the game to finally break through the junkies defense and score the first plant. A second plant by TTL Milk came in the next 20 seconds. Then a third plant right after that. However, despite an overkill by TTL Gilthanis, the junkies were able to disarm the bomb. With the Gunslingers bearing down, TTL Los Jacklos was able to score the final plant and end the game with the score of 3-0 at 4 minutes elapsed.
Game 3 Team Slayer on The Pit:
This game was a slug-fest from beginning to end. The Junkies and Gunslingers went kill for kill for the first 20 points in the game. Most of the fighting was around the center of the map, there was almost no penetration through either teams defense. Even with the stout defense the Gunslingers were able to work up a lead that ranged from 15 at the most, and 6 at the least. The final tally was in TTL’s favor with a final score of 100-87.
Game 4 Slayerball on Isolation:
Slayerball was the one of the Junkies match choices and the most exciting game of the night. Slayerball is a variation of oddball where 1 point is awarded for every second the ball is held on to, and 3 points for every kill scored. The match started with a battle to control the center of the map and the ball. After a minute and a half of spam grenades and charges, TTL Al Capown came out with the oddball in his clutches and the gunslinger crew created a perimeter around him. The Junkies successfully disrupted our defense at one point and gained control of the oddball. However with the game out of reach in the final minute or two it came down to scraping it out with BRs. When the dust cleared it was yet again a TTL victory with the score of 633-355. Hats off to TTL Al Capown who racked up 295 points in this match.
Game 5 Multi-Flag on Valhalla:
Valhalla has quickly become a modern classic, and we decided to have this game-type as the final match. The beginning of the match was once again a scramble to control the middle and the laser. TTL gained control of the laser and quickly dispatched the opposing vehicles. But the Junkies weren’t going to roll over, without any power weapons they disposed of our warthog, and sky jacked one of the most talented banshee pilots around. Both sides clashed time and time again before TTL managed to get a flag over the hill and back to base to make the game 1-0. The games pace was slow and grinding. Despite getting TTL’s flag twice the Junkies were unable to make a successful capture. One attempt was thwarted at the middle hill, and another at the “flatrock”. The gunslingers finish the shutout with a 3-0 score averaging a flag cap every five minutes.
The Gunslingers would like to thank the halo 3 junkies for coming out and exchanging lead with us once again. We enjoy the opportunity to share good games with warriors like you.
Buddy System Gaming is a new community forged from good friends and good games. As their community grows, TTL is honored to be there with them. We are especially pleased to have the honor of fighting as their inaugural challeneger.
Written by Bunny:
BSG brought out the community leaders of BSG Alekat, BSG Surgeon, BSG Cashmere, BSG kaBOB, BSG Daffy, BSG Krabs, BSG Red 32, and BSG SaltyOldDog. The Gunslingers brought out TTL Stuicide, TTL Fate, TTL Gilthanis, TTL Tortacular, TTL Balzy, and TTL Milk.
Game One: Lowhill on Valhalla
This game was a quick one. The hogs were rollin’ and bodies were flyin’. TTL drove and BRed their way to victory. TTL wins 50 – 24…
Game Two: Multi-Flag CTF on Standoff
The game was a hard fought entrenchment. The teams were at each other the whole game. TTL would make a push and BSG would sneak off with their flag. BSG brought the flag home through the middle of the field twice but were stopped short on a third return trip home. TTL held out with slaying. TTL wins 3 – 2…
Game Three: One-Bomb Assualt on Last Resort
This game was marked by it’s defensive play. While BSG were able to get a few quick arms, TTL managed to return the package to sender. In the final Sudden Death, TTL Stuicide laid down a last ditch arm and TTL Gilthanis pulled out a 6 v 6 extermination. TTL wins 1 – 0…
Game Four: King of the Hill on Avalanche
BSG just kelt their wheels spinning in a game that TTL just couldn’t get started. BSG pulled away with an early lead and never looked back. BSG wins 250 – 210…
Game Five: Slayer on The Pit
BSG hopped out to the early lead again. But, when Balzy has a long barrel in his hands, there is almost no hope. TTL wins 100 – 92…
A new community has been started and their wheels are already turning. However, no one should win their very first clan challenge right? TTL gave BSG that answer by taking them down 4 – 1.
A great thank you goes out to the members of Buddy System Gaming for good games and good times. There will be many more skirmishes between these two brother communities for sure. If you haven’t visited their site before, I suggest you do.
Who doesn’t love Slayer? At the heart of every Halo game is the basic slayer mechanic. You can’t play without death. Slayer is the truest expression of Halo love. So when Subliminal Gaming approached us about a kill or be killed challenge, it was beautiful in it’s simplicity. Three slayer games on three maps for death and glory. Grab your BR and let’s get killing.
Game One: Slayer on The Pit: TTL Wins 50-40
Life and Death
What better way to start the challenge then with a standard match on a standard map. The first 30 kills of this game kept both teams within one or two points while vying for map and weapon control. Around kill 35 we broke through their lines, Waynoka putting newly spawned rockets to good use as I backed him up with regen and sniper. By the time we took over their sniper tower we’d also taken over the lead, and when the game suddenly ended it was almost a surprise. Good game.
Game Two: Shotty Snipers on Last Resort: SG wins 50-49
One Last Kill
Tense does not begin to describe this game. We walked a razors edge filled with nerve-wracking, nail-biting stress that literally came down to the last kill. A cat and mouse game on Last Resort swept away in the final 30 seconds of the game where kill or be killed became not just reality but a game winner. SG found us first and scored that final headshot, winning the game. But in the post game it was obvious from the nervous laughter and gasping that we were too busy having heart attacks to chat. Good game.
Game Three: Vehicle Insanity on Avalanche: SG wins 50-39
Death from Above
Our Roadkill desperately wished to participate in the glory of Slayer. The Pit was a neutral game, the Shotty Snipers picked by SG, so we chose a map and game to allow the men and women in blue a chance to shine. Insanely fast spawning vehicles outpaced the splaser respawn, leading to a warthog around every corner and a Hornet in every sky. But despite it being our game SG showed they could kill in vehicles as well as with BRs. They rolled as a pack and simply outslayed. Good Game.
The fine folks from Subliminal Gaming showed discipline, patience, and grace, and gave our BRs a run for our money. It was a pleasure facing them on the field of battle, and I look forward to a rematch!
The Army of the Republic had come to TTL looking for a competitive fight with our members. AoR is a large community with a vast amount of members and a great reputation. This group came from AoR’s Flatline subdivision.
Written by Bunny:
AoR Flatline came out firing with AoR Outlaw, AoR Kilby, XMA77Y, and matt1242. The Gunslingers fielded TTL Fate, TTL Homicide (now TTL KaL eL), TTL Los Jacklos and TTLGilthanis.
Game 1: Multi-Flag on Pit
AoR decided that they were going to bring the fight to TTL early and got a quick capture. However, TTL decided they would have none of that and put the lock down on their base and attacked like wild dogs. TTL wins 3 – 1…
Game 2: Team King on Construct
Again, AoR came out firing first, but TTL outslayed to the end. TTL wins 250 – 149…
Game 3: Team Slayer on Narrows
A quick game on the record, but a tight game to the players. While it may look like TTL ravaged AoR, the game was a nail biter to those involved. TTL wins 50 – 33…
Game 4: Team Oddball on Guardian
It was a battle to hold the jungle and sniper. The two went back and forth. TTL ran the ball around and ran away with the game. TTL wins 214 – 164…
Game 5: Team Slayer on Onslaught
TTL ran together like a pack of wolves and AoR couldn’t deal with 6 bullets flying at them all at the same time. TTL wins 50 – 29…
The competitive winds have blown through the area and TTL has sustained the AoR tornado. More fights are the only reasonable way to end this battle.
TTL would like to thank the great folks at the Army of the Republic for giving us a great competitive fight. This was just one squad from the great community and Tied the Leader would be pleased to entertain future fights with more divisions of AoR. Good Game.
