Gunslinger Spotlight: Chae Si

Chae SiChae Si is one of our newest Gunslingers, and intrepid reporter Pony was able to sit down with him for a little palaver.

Chae Si: I am ready to go when you are.
Pony: Sweet, I’m still here. I may have to run out for a few to get the girlfriend in to my building, but I’ll return.
Pony: Let’s get this show on the road.
Chae Si: Go ..
Pony: Lead off question… How did you come about picking your gamertag?
Chae Si: I did not want to be something random … so as I sat thinking of what to brand myself … I remembered that a dear friend from Hong Kong gave me a chinese name. It was ment to sound vaguely like “Chris” … but ends up sounding like Chay See.
Pony: Does it have a meaning?
Chae Si: It does … it means “Strange thoughts” which she thought was appropriate somehow. Maybe she knows something I don’t.
Pony: Haha, deep, yet somehow avoiding insult.
Chae Si: She is good like that.
Pony: How about the Gunslingers: how did you stumble across a bunch of troublemakers like us?
Chae Si: Oh … well … I was jonesing for Halo stuff between my xbox180 going redeye on me and getting my 360, so … I found the podtacular podcast and the one I listened to just happened to be the one that Deej was on. I thought he was funny, smart, and sounded like a gamer that I would like to game with. When I finally got back into matchmaking and found pummled by Timmies
Chae Si: I wrote Deej a ranting open letter. He then pointed me here. Thank god he did.
Chae Si: Told you I can be verbose.
Pony: Hey, the more you write, the less I have to.
Pony: Good stuff about the Deej letter, that’s one of the more unique ways I’ve recruitment I’ve heard.
Chae Si: Yes … and not only that …
Chae Si: but Stu was kind enough to concider me even though I did not meet the ranking criteria. That says lots about TTL to me.
Pony: Man, if being good at Halo was strict policy here, Locke wouldn’t stand a chance.
Pony: (Nothing but love, Locke!)
Chae Si:
Pony: Haha… To real life now… What does a man with such strange thoughts do for a living? Job? Family?
Chae Si: I have a wonderful wife and we are on the family planning track. I am an Architect and am very passionate about what I do. I am one of the lucky ones who really digs what he does between 8:00 and 5:00, which means my day is really 7:00 to 7:00.
Chae Si: It also means I do not game as much as I really want to.
Pony: When work can be enjoyable, Life seems to follow suit.
Chae Si: So far … that seems to be true.
Pony: Now for a tough question. If you could pick one goal to accomplish in your life, what would it be?
Chae Si: My goal in life is to raise my kids to evolve beyond me. Plain and simple. Whatever it takes. I mean … if my kids can’t 4 shot BR someone while dodging sniper rounds … I just wont feel like I have done my duty on this planet.
Pony: haha, what an answer!
Chae Si: Well .. when you are my age … you tend to think of these things.
Chae Si: 35 if you must ask.
Chae Si:
Pony: Took the question right out of my mouth.
Pony: Alrighty Chae, any last words? Inside jokes?
Chae Si: Inside jokes huh? I don’t think I can muster one up … how about. How long will it take a pack of Gunslingers to rules the Universe?
Chae Si: 5d 14h 0m which is how long it takes to research Hyperspace Drive 6.
Chae Si: Lame .. I know .. but its the best I can do under the pressure.
Pony: Hahaha, well said in my opinion.
Chae Si:
Pony: Good stuff Chae, thanks for takin’ the time out for this.
Chae Si: No problem, and good timing. I have a design review starting in 5 minutes. This was a
nice distraction.
Chae Si: Thanks.
Pony: No problem. Get it done.
Chae Si: I will. Take care.
