Last month, the Gunslingers took on a competitive challenge from the clan C1nder (you can check them out at www.c1nder.net). How’d we do? Well you’ll have to read Los Jacklos’ write-up to find out!

On 3/27/08 The TTL Gunslingers played Clan C1nder in a best of five Clan match! Here’s my review of how the matches went down:
C1NDER Bomb on Stand off (LOS POV)
Going into this match my strategy was that I would just play from our rocks or their rocks and provide BR support for the entire team. This support role garnered me the majority of kills for our team. I found that any time I deviated from that by trying to arm the bomb is I just died. The first minute set the tone of the game with Clan C1nder not challenging TTL for control of the laser. TTL Bunny and TTL L Askan did almost all of the heavy lifting in terms of objective with Gil and I just trying to kill everything in their paths.
Thashy and TizMiz patrolled the bases in a warthog, keeping C1nder off balance. Our teams planed strategy worked well throughout the match.
We scored two bombs in the first four minutes, but the non-stop offensive rush lead C1inder a Bomb plant making the score 2-1 five minutes into the game. We played very little defense in this match, and it showed, with C1nder being able to sneaky arm and score by only sending one person into our base!
With the score at 2-1 eight minutes into the game, C1nder ratcheted up the defense, and they were able to ward off our non-stop offensive rushes. Eleven minutes into the game, both teams had bombs armed multiple times with neither team scoring and both teams diffusing multiple times.
Unlike some assault games of Halo, this game was action-packed. The action ratcheted up toward the end and TTL was able to arm without C1nder noticing until it was too late.
C1NDER TS on High Ground (LOS POV)
We had hoped to get the beach spawn and the Halo Gods were smiling on us as we spawned amidst the salty brine!
For most of this match, I decided to post up on certain areas like low bunker to prevent the other team from gaining control of our power weapons, only deviating from that strategy when we had lost control of Sniper or Rockets. Two minutes into the game, one of my key plays was noticing that sniper control had slipped away from TTL. Clan C1nder had just gained an early 7-5 lead and stolen control of our sniper rifle. I decided to make a quick rush to get it back. I jumped up to turret, and with some quick shotgun work snatched back the Sniper and returned to the beach within seconds. That play ensured that we were going to be able to control the beach and the Sniper rifles on re-spawn.
The first five minutes of the match the lead was exchanged to both teams many times, and it looked like even though we had the power weapons and the spawn advantage, C1nder was going to be incredibly hard to out-slay.
Seven minutes in, TTL turned the tide and we were able to go up 10 points. With TTL’s control of the beach spawn and the beach power weapons, we were able to solidify out leads by 20 points halfway through the match.
TTL finishes out the game with a 30+ point lead. Proving, ironically, that the team that spawns at the beach usually wins on High Ground.
