Two Call of Duty 4 challenges in a row? You bet it is. The Gunslingers are on a roll with COD as of late, and recently took on the Geezer Gamers in a five game battle for glory (and a whole lotta fun.) Check out Gunny’s write up, and get our side of the story.
Written by Gunny:
To warm up for the evening’s events, we played Lansdown’s ridiculous FFA match. Once we got our connection issues sorted out, it was on like Donkey Kong. Headshots only with Old School rules. Bodies flew! Hearts were broken! Obscenities were heard! My oh my what fun!
The matches in order:
Headquarters on Showdown
TTL wins 180-150
This game found our opponent getting off to a fast start and getting team TTL all hot and bothered. Actually the Geezers lead the entire match up until the final minute when we were finally able to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. For the most part, we got are behinds spanked, but with the help of the gods above, we squeaked this one out. Twas a nice beginning for team TTL!
Search & Destroy on Crash
TTL wins 4-0
We started on defense to begin the battle. Rounds one, two, and three found TTL eliminating the opposition before a bomb plant could be had. Halftime was then in order so sides were switched, and TTL was on the offensive. We needed to win just one of the three final rounds to carry the victory. We managed to plant the bomb on our initial rush to Alpha and eliminated all opposition after arming. Winner, winner chicken dinner!
Sabotage on District
TTL wins 1-0
Back and forth we went. Round and round. For those who aren’t familiar, Sabotage the equivalent to neutral bomb on Halo. Needless to say this game was not easy. After being frustrated for thirteen minutes, and several close calls, we managed to arm the bomb in their house and set up a nice perimeter. An airstrike called in by one of own sealed the deal. A tough, intense match.
Domination on Ambush
TTL wins 200-140
I was extremely worried we would lose this affair due to the fact that GG’s ladies had started to get a little rowdy. Promises of an impromptu Mardi Gras were made. We did somehow manage to avoid their feminine wiles and carry the day. Twas not easy, oh no, but we did manage to keep the Geezers hemmed in just enough to prevail.
Hardcore Team Deathmatch on Backlot
A mixer with Cirques winning on a technicality.
Some suggested that we conduct the final game as a mixer, and so it was. Bear and I were teamed up with Dragon, Gezr, and Indefensible if memory serves. My team lost a very close match due to the fact that Backlot is just not my bag, and I was knee deep in the wine bottle by then as well. I made them limp, but I couldn’t put them down! F1at got the most points of anyone, so as he told the room, technically “the Cirques won it”. Well played sir, well played.
After all was said and done we threw ourselves into a room and spread the gospel of the “good game” far and wide at the expense of Timmy and his many followers. I think we made an impression. No games were lost the rest of the night!
Fun times were had by all. We kept up our chatter, and I was extremely proud of the way everyone (friend and foe) preformed during the matches. Great job one and all.
Thanks to Kai for keeping a running battle report throughout the night. A special thanks to Bear and Lupes for filling in as well.
We came away from this battle with new friends and fond memories. What more could one ask for?
Good Game.
